Iris Haverkamp Begemann

Iris Haverkamp Begemann (1989) is a Dutch photographer based in Amsterdam. Her work explores how people outside the mainstream – by choice or through exclusion – form identity and community. Depending on the context and collaboration, she shifts between an observational and co-creative approach.

What drives her work is a refusal to reduce people to what’s expected of them. Her practice examines how privilege and exclusion shape belonging – and how, within that tension, people find ways to connect, resist, and reimagine who gets to be seen. Developing and printing in the dark room is another way of sitting with the work, letting the story surface from within the material itself.

Her work has been shown at Museum Hilversum, Outernet Global London, Melkweg Expo, and Fotofestival Naarden, and published in national and international media including De Volkskrant, Vrij Nederland, and WePresent. Commercial projects for: Ace & Tate, Amnesty International, ASN Bank, De Correspondent, DHB Bank, Lenovo, The Dutch Government, Mizuno, The New Originals, Van Moof, Volkskrant, Vrij Nederland
